Back in May, Motorsport Travel Destinations joined forces with Mayländer Wine to offer a once in a lifetime chance to be at the 24h of Le Mans.
To enter, all you needed to do was follow both accounts on Instagram, like the giveaway post and tag the friend you’d take to Le Mans! And our lucky winner was… Ines from Vienna!
We caught up with her after the dust settled to see how she had enjoyed the experience…
What did the Le Mans 24h mean to you before the competition?
For me as a motorsport fan, Le Mans is the pinnacle of endurance racing—a legendary and historic race that combines speed and strategy, and provides a very challenging and prestigious motorsport.
What were your expectations before the trip?
I have been to the 24h Le Mans before, and I expected high class racing, a vibrant atmosphere, passionate drivers, teams and fans. A unique experience.
What was your reaction when you found out you had won?
First, I thought it is a spam 🙂 sorry! I couldn’t even remember what the full prize was about but I immediately got very, very excited
Who did you take with you to Le Mans?
Right after I found out about my win, I texted my friend Morgane, if she has any plans for the Le Mans weekend yet. She knew about the competition so she texted back: no, don’t tell me…no honestly? We go to Le Mans?
What was your journey to the event like?
The journey to the event was quite relaxed. I took a flight-train combination via Paris. Very smooth and well organised.
Can you describe your first impressions of the Gold site and the cabin?
My first impression of the Gold site and the cabin was that it was extremely convenient located right outside the track, all very clean and nicely equipped with all what’s necessary during a race weekend.
What stood out to you most about the accommodation and setup?
I think it was the mix of rustic and comfort charm. Unlike traditional camping, the cabin offered comfortable bedding, electricity, while still providing an authentic outdoor experience and definitely dry feet in case of pouring rain.
Maylander Wine
What did you think of the Maylander Wine?
Mayländer Wine is absolutely special. It pairs a well-known motorsport name with an excellent wine region and a special vineyard and the outcome are fantastic wines
Had you heard of the brand before?
Yes, I have tried some Glühwein (mulled wine) from Bernd Mayländer before
Which was your favourite?
My favourite was the Zweigelt, I loved the cherry-berry aroma
How were the team on the ground at Le Mans?
Everyone was really helpful and very kind. Great hospitality!
What did you think of the race?
The race was good. I think we had better and more exciting races in Le Mans before, but nevertheless we had a fantastic and deserved overall winner
Did you stay up for the 24 hours?
No, I slept for about five hours
Did you have a favourite moment from the weekend?
Yes, when Robert Kubica crossed the finish line and absolutely everybody loved it. No matter if you are a Ferrari fan or not.
Would you recommend this kind of experience to people looking to attend the Le Mans 24h?
If you want to stay close to the track, not camping but kind of, it is a very good option!
